Xr0w - a simple and challenging board game

J2ME (MIDP) release

This is a port of my PalmOS game .  The current release is written for Java 2  MIDP (Mobile Information Device Profile) classes, a part of J2ME  (Java 2 Micro-Edition). The application is designed to work on any J2ME-compatible mobile phones (Motorola i85, Nokia 6310, Siemens SL, etc) and handhels (Nokia Series 60, RIM). It will identify and use Nokia 6310 sound facilities if available, otherwise standard (system) sound is used.

This release has limitations as compared to its PalmOS counterpart:  no human-to-human, or computer-to-computer options: you always play against the computer, you always need to place 5 pieces in a row to win. However the board is not always square, you can select board width and height separately. As in PalmOS release, three computer player skills are available.

The application is also availabe in mini-edition. The mini-eidition takes only 30K (as opposed to over 50K of standard version), it doesn't allow changing rules (board size, first moving token),  and sound preferences, it lacks build-in help. Designed for Nokia 6310 (which doesn't accept an application exceeding 30K), but it should work  OK with any MIDP unit.
